EnergeO to launch seismic surveys to evaluate geothermal in La Cote, Switzerland Vibro-truck for seismic campaign (source: Geo2X) Carlo Cariaga 5 Sep 2024 EnergeÔ is set to proceed with a series of seismic campaigns to better characterize the potential geothermal resource in the La Cote region of Switzerland. Swiss geothermal developer EnergeÔ SA have announced plans to launch 3D seismic campaigns to enhance the understanding of potential geothermal resources in the Vinzel, Nyon, and Morges regions in La Cote, Switzerland. Surface exploration permits have already been secured for these activities and the campaigns are expected to start on September 2024.
The permit covers a significant portion of the Swiss territory, encompassing areas with known geological formations and potential for mineral deposits. This includes the Jura Mountains, the Alps, and the Lake Geneva region. EnergeÔ’s exploration activities will focus on identifying and characterizing the geological formations and mineral deposits within the permit area. This will involve a combination of geological surveys, geophysical surveys, and geochemical analysis.
Results from these campaigns are expected by 2025 and will provide key data for future geothermal drilling and potential development of geothermal district heating in the region. The data will also be crucial in finalizing details for the planned drilling of a doublet in the Vinzel region to tap into the resource identified from the 2023 drilling campaign. EnergeÔ has prepared detailed information on the communes that will be affected by the seismic campaign in Vinzel and Nyon. Source: EnergeO
